I was interested in the article on this site which described Crosscanonby as being in the parish of Maryport.
I had always assumed that Crosscanonby was the parish which encompassed the surrounding villages. Smile
I am researching my ggg-grandfather Andrew Armstrong who noted on his marriage to Isabella Sanderson
of Dalston, April 1801, that he was of the parish of Crosscanonby. I have not been able to find any record
of his birth, around 1773, or the banns for his marriage in any of the Crosscanonby churches. I would be
interested to hear from anyone researching Armstrongs in the Maryport area, or any help from researchers in
the Maryport area who have access to the parish records or Bishop's Transcripts.

Things were the other way round ... Maryport was part of Crosscanonby parish and appears in various censuses in that way.
