I am trying to gather any information on John Sinclair and his family. He was born in Wick in 1908 and married a girl from Whitehaven. He is thought to have had two daughters. In the early 1950's he owned a butchers shop and the garage next door. He is thought to have lived above the shop. It is also thought that he own a boat which he kept in the harbour. He may have been in the army before coming to live in Whitehaven.

Does anybody have any information on this family. Does anybody have any recollection of the butchers shop or the garage or might have any suggestions for a location. It is thought that the butchers shop was originally owed by John Sinclair's wife's father so the that of the shop would be very valuable. His wife's name may have been Jean.

All thoughts, ideas or suggestions will be very much appreciated.

One of the things that I am trying to find is the wife's maiden name.

I know that John Sinclair was born in Wick, Caithness and left to join the army. My guess is that he was in the army between the wars. I have been told that he married a girl from Whitehaven whose father owned the Butcher's shop and that they lived over it. I have yet to find a marriage.

I have found a John Sinclair whose date of birth is identical to "my John" who died in Reading in 1975. I am waiting for that Death Certificate. If it is correct it might give some further information.
