hi, i'm hoping that someone may be able to help me out. i am looking to re-locate from peterborough cambridgeshire (4 half hrs drive away) to the whitehaven area. the thing is i am having trouble finding a house to rent as i have both children and animals. the estate agents can find me houses that accept 1 or the other not both. can anyone advise me on where i can find private renting not through an estate agent? i have rang the council and they are sending me an application pack, but said the waiting list is about 6months minimum. i need a min of 3bedrooms, some where that will take pets - 2 king charles spaniels and a cat and children - 3 boys. some sort of garden is required but doesnt have to be huge. ideally no more than £400 a month rent. any help or ideas of where i can go would be great. amy

Hi Amy - welcome to the forum. You should contact the local newspaper: www.whitehaven-news.co.uk and place an advert in there. It'll cost around £30 for an advert. There are homes out there, it's just getting word out that you are looking for something. Good luck.

thank you very much. the main problem is because i'm not local i cant just nip in and view etc, or see any that have "to let" signs in the window.

Welcome to the forum Amy. Go to www.whitehaven-news.co.uk When it loads click on advertising and then on property in the heading. You will then be taken to clickin2property site where you can search for property for sale or to rent. Hope this helps.

thanks. bben on that and they are the same houses all the time, rang the estate agents about a couple and they were let last year. as i have been told on another forum i use the best way is by walking round and seeing if anyone has "to let" signs in window NOT through an estate agent, but not being local i cant do this.
