More homes are to be demolished in Whitehaven as part of what they are calling regeneration.. how long has this regeneration been happening, and has it made much of a difference to Whitehaven?

The affected streets include... Windermere Road, Fell View Avenue, Woodhouse Road, and Fleswick Avenue.

How the hell can they put a use by date on bricks and mortar as me completely baffled..
no matter how bad of repair a house or land surrounding it is in--it can be renovated...
They are knocking houses down whole sale..and all with the same excuse..too bad of repair--past used by date--(bollocks)..This to me is a load of crap..if they sold these so called past their sell by date houses for 3 or 4 thousand pounds each to young working couples they would be snapped up and it would give them them enough mortgage leeway to bring them up to standard ..
Smells of a huge con trick by these housing associations to me--could the truth not be they are more interested in grabbing the massive government grants for so called regeneration to build less houses than being knocked down rather than bring their existing stock up to standard
I get a feeling these associations just do not want too many houses on their books--nor do they want to sell them preferring to have social housing waiting lists..but a big factor in social housing waiting lists is the fact that people can not afford to buy a new one..all these houses they are so happy to bulldoze could be a godsend to young working couples, if they were sold to them cheap enough..but this wont happen it would upset market forces and possibly jobs for the boys.. What a brilliant idea about flogging them really cheap. Money saved could be used for renovation - they could make it terms of the sale.

exactly...a thirty thousand pound mortgage to young working couples to renovate with..would be a lot easier to obtain than a £100 000 mortgage to buy a house.. Basketball
