| My wife and I called in at the Crem this afternoon with some flowers for her mothers birthday and walked right into Dereck Birds funeral, I have never seen as many police in one place, they were right up the drive on the road outside and the woods were also full of police, some of them armed, if as many police had been chasing him he would have not been able to kill so many people, talk about shutting the stable door after the horse has got out, |

Blaming people now isnt going to put things right, the police have had enough stick from Outsiders without the locals getting at them. Maybe if Bird had made an appointment and said look folks i am going on a killing spree, you want to come after me, the police could have stopped it. These things happen, you cannot plan for them, you just hope like many others, it never happens in your area. The police have been at the Crem for all the Funerals making sure, if services were requested as private they were kept that way, or just helping with parking and whatever else was needed.
The one thing i was disappointed with, is the pics in todays Sun of Birds funeral, i would have thought his family would have requested Total Privacy! |
