| Also a 'bust up' between an Irish group who were performing and the crew from an Irish fishing boat. Didn't take Wally long to cover the organ up, I recon he would have dragged it off the stage if he could. |

| GeoffE, Interesting link. Strange that no matter where you are in the world everyone thinks that the field is greener on the other side of the fence. I see the young folk think that there's not much to do around Whitehaven. I live in Milton Keynes at the moment with a population of 280,000 and rising. At the weekend it rises to over 500,000. Yea it's got fantastic facilities ie. indoor Snow Dome, climbing walls inside and out, watersports of all kinds, skate parks, amusement parks, Theatre, pubs, clubs, indoor shopping, etc etc. But its also got numerous areas of housing that I can only describe as Ghettos carefully hidden behind banks of trees. And still the youth are bored stupid or is it the other way around As a result crime rates are exceedingly high and in particular violence, robbery, burglary, sexual assaults/rapes, drugs, stolen cars, criminal damage, etc etc. If you ask them why.....all you get is "nothing to do I'm bored" and a load of verbal abuse. |

| It as taken me fifty seven years to try telling my peers I am a Distington lad and not a Parton lad..and those two places are only two mile apart.. --------------------and still i am called a Parton lad --so it might take a while to be accepted as a Whitehaven person...But not to worry...new faces are accepted..just hail everyone you meet with the local greeting ... "Hy asser..wors it garn marra" ---and you are in.... |

| The photo is of the Buff's Club - Zodiac Club - Cameo Club. My two friends Ian Cowen and Tom Mc Cartney were on the door at one time.
Another local was done for a Robbery there. He hid the money in the cavity wall of his mothers house the police recovered it - with sledge hammers! |

| Hi Frank, How come me and thee were smashing greenhouse windows with Albert in the 1940s and you were living in Parton then and were you born in Parton?. |
